Description

Charley Castillo and the former members of Presidential Agent’s Office of Organizational Analysis are officially “retired.” But that doesn’t mean they’re out of action…

At a Mexican roadblock, a US Embassy SUV is stopped at gunpoint, three of its passengers murdered, and a fourth kidnapped. Everything points to the drug cartels, especially when the kidnappers say they will return the hostage if a cartel kingpin is released from US federal prison. But when word gets to Castillo and his group of retired spies and special operators, they have their doubts.

They believe that it's a diversion—that the murders and kidnapping were ordered by someone to lure Castillo & Company to their deaths. But even knowing that may not save them. Powerful forces in the US government are arrayed against them as well, and if one side doesn't get them...the other side will.

Less and less detail and more and more far fetched

Not that great a read. Story wraps up in a paragraph after a lot of backslapping an rehashing old times.
  • Not Mr. Butterworth's Best

It is obvious someone else is writing these books, now. I spent more time reading recaps of the details than I did reading the real plot. These characters are too good to waste on such gimmicks. Write this down, Mr. Butterworth - you can do better; you should do better. What a disappointment.

Its always fun following the adventures of Charlie Castillo and his band of Outlaws. This one was more enjoyable than I expected, especially considering some of the reviews. The ending was a little abrupt, but I still enjoyed it.
  • The best NON action book in the Castillo series

What happened? A big part of the book was about stuff we already learned from the previous books, but that is understandable considering that the author needs to help the first time readers. What I really don't understand is the fact that the author spent all the effort to build the story and ended the story in such weak fashion. I almost felt that WEB didn't really write this book, it simply does not live up to his name.

You can't always have the endless action and girl getting Castillo. This is a fresh look at a plot driven book in a series that should continue for a long time. If you enjoyed the other presidential agent series then you'll absolutely love this book. Who doesn't love Charley Castillo?

Another great book in a long line of successes by W.E.B. However it is vastly overpriced for a e-book.

With the ending. Could have been a hell of a lot better. Was happy with the previous books in the series but this one could have had more. To have spent my time reading all those chapters and to end the way it did. I don't know what happened WEB. Did you just run out of content?

I was so looking forward to the next book in the series and I agree with the other negative reviews. No action, continuous rehashing of old story and a horrible ending. I actually thought I'd skipped several chapters when I got to the end. Before I buy another of these I'll be reading reviews to see if it is a sub-par book. Very very disappointing.
