Slow pace. Too much useless banter. I think the writer aimed for clever dialogue, but it just fell flat for me. I just didn’t care whodunit after a while.

I loved the story line and enjoyed the characters. Some of the writing was a little drawn out and I was lost in some of the text and had to reread areas to understand what was being said. However it was a good start for a new series.

Characters and their interaction is brilliant, numerous, entertaining. Descriptions are paintings, rich and detailed, feels like you’re their. Vulgar but can easily be overlooked. But the ending is very much a downer. Cowboy pathos I suppose.

I binge watched the Netflix series first (all 8 seasons) and kept wanting more. The books are as good or better. Highly recommended.
