Description

She's my best friend's wife. I made him a promise I never thought I'd have to keep.

Now I'm about to dishonor him in the worst possible way…

River

I thought the hardest thing I'd ever have to do was bury my husband, my best friend, and the father of the child growing inside me.

Little did I know my husband asked his friend Storm to watch over me should anything happen.

Now that the worst has happened, or so I thought, Storm has me moved in with him.

A cabin in the Montana woods seems like a great place to hide for the battle ahead of us plus now the pesky pregnancy hormones have me feeling the kinds of things I should be for Storm.

I bet that poor man can't wait to get rid of me…

Storm

My life in the mountains was simple and quiet… until River.

When my best friend Jason made me promise to take care of his pregnant wife, I never imagined I'd have to keep it.

Now, the woman I promised to protect, is under my roof and under my skin.

But not everyone seems ready to let Jason rest in peace and River might be the one to pay the price.

I made a vow to protect her and I will do whatever it takes to keep that promise, even if it means letting her go and having her take my heart with her…

This is a slow burn story, ex-military solider Storm promised his ex-best friend Jason wife. Jason dies while in deployment. River his widow wife is expecting their first child, it should be a happy time but she is grieving. Storm, goes to her to help her but decides to take her away from her place and bring her to Whiskey River, Montana. So that she can be supported by him and his friends and family. But there is someone wanting more from River and her unborn child. What can happen next? Love reading the River whiskey men series. Isolated mountain men, ex military, small town. New found family.

What an emotional toll this book does to you when reading. So many high and lows, but a good cathartic experience in how realistic the situation comes to be. Loved these characters and the selflessness of their actions in protecting and providing for loved ones. Fantastic read, liked how many of the previous characters make appearances and help in many instances in making this story come together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone, though best enjoyed if the series is read. I absolutely loved Storm. He was medically discharged from the military but promised his friend Jason that if anything happened to him, Storm would take care of his wife, River.. She had no family of her own and he wanted her taken care of. Unfortunately, Jason is killed in action and River is pregnant and feels alone. Storm comes in to take care of her and to take her to Montana with him to help her and the baby for as long as they need.it does not take long for River and Storm to care for each other. This author is just incredible! Kaci Rose writes wonderful books that bring out so many emotions. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I don’t say this often and have never left a review about a book or a series of books, but I have to say that I love these books, couldn’t put them down until I was done with each one. The next book is due out in November of 2024. It’s going to be a very, very long year waiting.

A promise made to a best friend, a pregnant widow and the healing of the mountains. I love the warm of the people and the beautiful mountains/nature. Each book is standalone but best when read as a series (beloved characters add richness to the tale). Bravo!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Take Me to the Edge is book 7 in the Mountain Men of Whiskey River by Kaci Rose and sure do love these insta love, alpha men. 4.5 stars River is pregnant, lost her husband on his last deployment, received a letter from his parents requesting a DNA test, filing all the military paperwork with the stress building…her husband’s best friend, Storm is there to help see her through it all, his gut is telling him not all is as it seems so he moves her to Whiskey River to protect her and her unborn child. What happens next…read on to see where it all ends… I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from Greys PR. . All thoughts and opinions are my own.
  • Beautiful story

I have read other Kaci Rose books, but never from this series. I didn’t need to have read the previous stories to enjoy the absolute heck out of Take Me To The Edge! Storm and River (even their names sound destined to be together) are thrown when her husband and his best friend dies in combat and Storm come to take care of River. He takes this vow seriously, especially since she’s pregnant and has no other family. We can all see where this is going, and possibly if Kaci Rose wasn’t such a skilled writer, it could come off a little awkward. But honestly, it’s simply a beautiful story about two people, taking care of each other s they remember man they both loved, but share a connection that goes much, much deeper. While there is some outside drama, inside their bubble of two, the angst level is low and the chemistry high. I devoured this book in just a few hours, as I could not put it down. I’ll be backtracking and reading the previous books in the series, since I’ve not “met” and liked the couples in those as well. 5 stars.
