Description

Ellen should have known that a gathering in America's last castle would entail a few uninvited guests.

During a Christmas eve wedding at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, Ellen and her friends are visited by multiple ghosts. The spirits have come to tell their stories, to right the wrongs that history has done to their memories. Each of them died in Asheville with their voices stifled. One spirit is particularly adamant and threatening, despite her small size, and her mood fluctuates like the mountain winds surrounding the great estate. She claims to be the ghost of Zelda Fitzgerald, and she wants her story told, even if she has to kill to make it happen.

  • Paints perfect picture of Biltmore and Asheville

This story is so much like the real place of Biltmore house. And the author hit Asheville, NC to a tee. The biggest coincidence is how it was snowing at Christmas and the year the book came out, it actually snowed at Christmas in Asheville. That may seem small to you guys but here in western nc it’s pretty rare for that time of year. Anyway, the ladies are on another mission. It gets spooky in some places. I love these ladies. I think Sue is my favorite. I can’t give anything away but there was a time I was so sad about one character then to my surprise, it worked out to be ok. As for the mean ghost, I didn’t much like her. But this author has a way of writing characters where you can find good in any of them. Or at least understand why they are like they are. The picture painted of the Biltmore house and surrounding area is spot on. Doesn’t disappoint. It’s was cozy and warm and a good read for Christmas or anytime. If you like audiobooks, try this one. The narration was pretty good. At times I wasn’t crazy about the narration but only on a few characters and occasions. I highly recommend it.
