The evolution of a goddess. Sekhmet the goddess of revenge was trapped for hundreds of years. She beloved her father Ra had betrayed her and left her trapped within the stone Sphinxes as guardian of the dead. Nothing anyone tried could free her and so she was left to watch the world change and time pass her by. Until one day a man comes and releases her. Now she has a choice for freedom has a price enact the revenge she’s dreamt of for so long and be trapped forever as a Sphinx or be free? I enjoyed this story and the evolution of Sekhmet. She’s not defined by the parameters of her creation but by her desires and what type of person she wishes to be. The love story between her and Fet is sweet with a touch of heat. And for consistency we have Ma’at plotting in the background for the good of all. A quick enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
