This book is about Ameline Lewis, who was almost eighteen when she started spending weekends at her brother’s apartment while her father was out of town. However, her brother spent the weekends with his girlfriend, and Ameline became friends with his roommate, Gabe Decker. (There is an enormous Decker Clan represented in books in the author’s backlist.) The relationship deepened over time and Gabe was the first person Ameline would turn to for support or advice. Gabe had lost his childhood sweetheart at sixteen and had no interest in trying love again. But the two both silently fell in love over the course of three years, and when Ameline’s father cut off his support and Ameline was facing a serious medical crisis, Gabe stepped in to provide her a place to live and the help she needed. This book was so expertly written that the slow burn romance was worth every second. I absolutely loved Gabe and Ameline, and it was wonderful to see Gabe taking a chance at love again. The book ends in a very distressing cliffhanger, but I wouldn’t expect anything else. The author likes to write very emotional stories that tear her readers apart and eventually puts us back together. I hope that there isn’t a big lag before the conclusion because I don’t like where the story is currently hanging. I most definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy emotional, contemporary romance novels. They struck up an unlikely friendship that has endured over the years, but now she’s older and when her life implodes around her, Gabe realizes that by trying to avoid another potential loss he may have been wasting precious time. This author truly has a gift for evoking real, visceral emotions from readers! This was another beautifully written story guaranteed to rip your heart to shreds!! You can’t help but love Gabe and Ameline, as they develop their relationship organically, then have the angst of the slow burn as their chemistry heats up. There were so many mind-blowing twists and turns, drama from Ameline’s horrible family, medical scares, and more to keep you riveted to the pages! I knew there would be a cliffhanger, and I 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 wasn’t ready for the punch in the gut it gave me, as I was left in tears, desparate for answers that only the second book can give!!🫣😢 Don’t miss this must-read, emotional duet from the amazing Decker Family world! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gabe and Ameline's story started out strong for me. I liked that Gabe befriended his roomies little sister...nothing romantic, no taboo relationship (she's 17, he's in his early 20's). Her home life is weird and lonely and he's a bright spot in her life. We see their friendship progress through the passage of a few years, through more struggles with the bizarre dynamics of her family, but we don't see a lot with Gabe's family. The turn towards a romantic partnership is, frankly, a little too quick and glossed over for me. Some things happen that I won't disclose as to not give away plot points, and honestly, I'm waiting for the conclusion to this duet before I make any big pronouncements. I have some guesses as to what's coming, we'll see if I'm right. 3.75 stars

Out of the ballpark… But ends in a cliffhanger! Claudia delivers such a great story. I hate to see how she plotted this one out amongst the other Decker books. Gabe is great. He’s such a well developed character with a tragic past. He meets Ameline and they say lighting doesn’t strike twice, but it may strike two or three times. Ameline has her own storyline and character arch with plenty of angst and feels. Highly recommend. Am waiting on the second part. PS - storyline spans years in this duet.

I absolutely loved The Lies About Forever by Claudia Burgoa; the first book in her Impossibly Possible Duet, a Decker Family Novel, it is an incredible love at first sight love story with your roommates sister. Claudia Burgoa continues to provide readers with incredible love stories filled with amazing characters. She continues to prove that she is an amazing storyteller. I love all the characters in The Lies About Forever, they feel like family! The Lies About Forever filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions, it was impossible to put it down, and I loved every moment on every page. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I love how Claudia Burgoa incorporated the title of the book and the picture on the cover into the love story. The Lies About Forever is a love story between high school senior, Ameline “Ame” Lewis and her brother Cedric’s roommate, Gabriel “Gabe” Decker, a college senior with plans to attend medical school. I loved how the book spans years of their relationship, and you could see the growth in Ameline, and Gabe, with Ameline going to college and Gabe in medical school. Gabe and Ameline meet when Ameline’s brother Cedric invites her to the apartment that he shares with Gabe and another friend, Jonathan, so that he can help her prepare for her standardized testing and with her homework. Instead, Cedric spends the weekend at his girlfriend’s house, and Ameline and Gabe become fast friends. Ameline continues to spend time at Gabe, Cedric, and Jonathan’s apartment. Ameline develops a crush on Gabe and unbeknownst to Ameline, Gabe is falling for her. I love that Gabe calls her Ame. I love all the things that Gabe does for Ameline to make her feel special, especially the birthday cake that he made for her, and how he never forgot to celebrate her birthday. I love the text stream between Ameline and Gabe, it is one of my favorite parts of the book. An unanticipated plot twist occurs that causes Ameline and Gabe to make changes in their lives. I love how they admit their real feelings for one another. Gabe would not reveal to Ameline the identity of a woman in a picture with him when she originally asked about her, instead Ameline learns who she is and what she meant to Gabe from his twin, Jude, and their mother, Pria. My favorite part is the cliffhanger ending and having no idea how it will conclude. I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. The Lies About Forever is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments and all those things that I have come to love and expect in Claudia Burgoa love story, and she did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. I love the characters and the family dynamic in The Lies About Forever, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoyed all the interactions between Decker siblings, especially their teasing that made me laugh. Who does not love family and friends that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed The Lies About Forever, who does not love a love at first with your roommates sister love story? I am looking forward to reading The Truth About Us, the conclusion of Ameline and Gabe’s love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story. Received an advanced copy from the author.

Wow, Claudia, another heart wrenching story that leaves us on a cliffhanger of all cliffhangers. But, I know you will put us back together with book 2. I binge read this today because this story will grips you and holds on. Gabe loves his family but withholds information from them and I’m not sure why….especially about Ameline. He is very caring, a fixer, and a bit of a control freak. I still think there’s more we will learn about him in book two to explain his behavior. Ameline has many hidden burdens and her family is not the greatest…her dad will piss you off and don’t even get me started on her siblings. She’s alone, not well and needs help. Gabe is there to help her work through all of her burdens. Helen makes her feel seen and loved. This friendship blossomed from a somewhat forced friendship between two people who are a perfect match…just takes them awhile to get there. I loved the text messaging and how their relationship grows over time. I will read anything Claudia writes and this story quickly became one of my favorites. Anxiously awaiting book two so my heart can be put back together.

The angst, the drama, the awfulness that a family can be, the fear of losing everything but in the midst of it all will they find a love that beats just for them? Or does life take it away? I can hardly wait for the conclusion to get here.
