Defiant Princess

I’m loving this dark and spicy take on a shifter academy novel. The heat between Ford and Juliet is at full blast. I loved seeing Juliet completely rule our big, Alpha hero. And for her to start developing feelings of her own. Lost Moon is a safe haven of sorts, but it has its own unique challenges that keep popping up. And what a cliffhanger! I’m not worried, because I trust the author and the story, but am nevertheless yearning for the next installment.

If you haven't read Alpha Betrayed yet, stop and pick that book up first. The Lost Moon University series is a trilogy, so Defiant Princess picks up right after AB. Juliet and Ford have made it safely to Lost Moon, but the twists and turns are still coming at this pair. Politics among the shifters are still in the place that's supposed to be a sanctuary for those who are different or without pack alliances. But much like the world at large, those who are the strongest try to control others. On a personal front, Ford and Juliet get much closer, even as she tries to stay away. She's determined to be alone in the end, but he's just as set on changing her mind. While danger lurks, this book is much more about building friendships and bonds with other students hoping to survive the trials and be accepted as university students. Again, this is part of a trilogy, so it ends in a cliffhanger! Yes, I'll wait sort of patiently for book 3, Savage Prince, to be released and bring Ford and Juliet full circle. I'm sure it'll be quite the ride.

I really enjoyed the continuation of Ford and Juliet’s wolf and phoenix shifter romance with a side of mystery and danger. This book is part of a trilogy and ends on a cliffhanger. As long as you are aware of that you’ll enjoy the story. This book picks up at the exact moment where the last book left off. Ford, a wolf shifter, and Juliet, a phoenix shifter, were both betrayed by their pack alpha and they both want revenge. They have made it safely to Moon University, a safe place for packless shifters, in order to hide out and plan but all is not what it seems. As they navigate the politics of the campus, we get to see more of their struggles both as individuals as well as a potential fated mates and the damage their time in captivity caused them. As an added bonus, Diana from the Wolves of New York series, is a secondary character. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, sexual tension, action, danger, messy relationships, painful pasts, mystery, evil actors, plot twists, imperfect characters, and even chuckles. The book is well written with witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, and an engaging storyline. I cannot wait to read the final book to see what happens next.
