"Fourth Wing will have your heart pounding from beginning to end... A fantasy like you've never read before." ―#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout

Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

The Empyrean series is best enjoyed in order.

One of the best young adult books I’ve read in a LONG TIME don’t get me wrong I adore ACOTAR, Cassandra Clare but this reminds me of the epic adventures that came out when I was younger (I’m 30). Not to mention the best romance scenes I’ve read that burn with you and aren’t over in a flash. I definitely am reminded of the The Wizards First Rule in the scale of adventure and the attention to detail. I know it’s for young readers but my only complaint is a few twists were a little easy to see coming although they were still extremely satisfying

I just came off a Jennifer Armentrout and Sarah Maas binge and was not sure any other fantasy book could hold my attention in comparison. This book did and I have already pre-ordered the sequel. Read it!

Fourth Wing is a page-turner. Every event is laced with utmost importance and you really feel the urgency of the characters. It manages to feel fast-paced without ever feeling pointless. There are some minor gripes. I got really tired of the same descriptors being used over and over again. So often it describes things as “lethal” or it says that a person smirks. Also, there’s a bit of woke tokenism. There’s a non-binary character that shows up for about a paragraph, a gay relationship that has no bearing on the story, and a deaf character who also has no bearing on the story. Almost as if the author simply went in afterwards and put these in to make certain people happy. But other than that, it’s a lot of fun! If not feeling a slight bit empty. Would recommend!

Fantastic story line, fantastic characters. I love that the Author actually made the dragons gigantic and not small. I love the twist at the end, and will definitely be waiting impatiently for book #2.

This book had me pulled in right from the beginning. It has war action, fantasy, romance, etc. I love the characters and how great the author was able to describe everything so well that you can just bring it to life. I can’t wait for the second book!

The story itself is AMAZING this review is of the narrator. I understand the need to get stuff done on a deadline but if you are sick and congested and constantly swallowing phlegm, then maybe WAIT IT OUT. It was very noticeable and honestly made me feel extremely nauseous that I could here her swallowing and mouth and nose noises. It was extremely uncomfortable to listen to. If these things make you nauseous as well I would just read the book. I truly hope they choose to re record this.
