Description

Sherrilyn Kenyon's most highly-anticipated novel in the New York Times bestselling Dark-Hunter series since Acheron is here—the unforgettable story of Styxx, Acheron's twin brother and one of the most powerful beings on earth

Just when you thought doomsday was over . . .

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn't always been on his brother's side. They've spent more centuries going at each other's throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he's willing to trade his life and future for Acheron's.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now.

She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her. But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it's hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it's your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul?

I read this book shortly after it came out and I HATED Styxx before I started it. I recommend reading Acheron first because I honestly don’t think I ever would’ve had pity for ash if I’d read styxx first. This is easily my favorite book! I probably read it once a year haha

When Styxx was first introduced in this series he was the villain. We now get to see that his life was just as horrific if not more so then Acheron’s. This book is so heart wrenching. Most of the book you see the true horror of their lives. Bethany is the love of Styxx’s life. They first meet when he is only 16 and had all but given up on life. They were both keeping secrets that could tear apart the trust they have in each other, and their lives are wrecked by those who wish to see them torn down and torn apart. This is a great book and I would recommended you also read Acheron to see things from both perspectives.

I have read all her books. I love Archeron as does everyone but wow, didn't like him a whole lot here. My heart broke for Styxx and what he went through. I actually cried. Amazing read, best of the series!! I am going to say, you have to read the previous books to REALLY have the emotion. Knowing the people in the story and their backgrounds and stories. Excellent book!!

I have read all of the DH books to date and wasn't sure what to expect from this one. It was very intense, dark, gritty and amazing! I absolutely loved how the author put Ash's POV/perceptions into it. It really puts into perspective how people perceive different situations. I was thrilled at the ending. Styxx was a very disliked character from many, I assume, so I love seeing how he grew up and his personality. He is nothing like I imagined, which I am happy for. His love for Bethany, Galen and even Ash is wonderful. I am looking forward to the next one in the series.

I wish I had taken the time to do a little more research before I bought this book. I picked it up because I'm a huge fan of the Nick series and really liked Acheron's character in it. I hadn't read any of the other books in this particular series. I can't stomach anything to do with rape and there was a lot of it in this book. As much as I love her story telling, it just made me sick to my stomach. I'll continue to follow Nick Gautier, but probably won't read any more of this series.

Every time I see this book anywhere or see anything that remotely reminds me of this book, all I want to do is read it. Over and over again. It may be a long book, but my god how it is everything I ever needed in a novel. I rate 1000+ out of 5 stars.
  • I just can't believe this is SK

After all these years of reading SK, I cannot believe this is her writing. It was too sick for me- too graphic. It made me hate characters that I'd come to love. Too much rape- it seems as if he's raped by EVERYONE!! I get that he's tortured... But Jesus SK, you could have made it way better than it was. And honestly, if this is how the other books in the DH series are gonna be, I'm gonna have to kiss this series goodbye.

I thought that Ash's story was wrenching, but this made me cry from beginning to end. Don't say you weren't warned.
