Ken Follett is an amazing author, but this is not a great book. It attempts to present a strong female protagonist though still has a naive 22yo male student as her protector. It tries to show the struggles female rape victims face with authorities and yet seems to relish the violence of the act itself. Times have changed in the 30 odd years since the novel was written but even then, it wasn’t ok for a man comfort a woman who was just assaulted and get aroused. Or the lead character emotionally blackmail her recently raped friend into helping her clear the man accused of her rape, not to mention result in him breaching his bail conditions. Save your money and buy almost ANY other book by the author!

The story was very tense and had a lot of twists and turns. Some of the characters internal dialogue was odd and felt poorly thought out. And you are going to have to suspend belief as the science was a stretch from the possible. But it was a fast wild ride and worth a read.

I found the book a little hard to follow at the very beginning but I soon discovered why. It became an exciting story.

I have been a fan of his writing for a long time but this was a very disappointing read
  • Great concept, unnecessary violence against women

The concept and science which fuels the book’s main plotline is creative, thrilling, and ahead of its time. However the book includes many intense, graphic accounts of violence against women that may be disturbing to readers. The story behind the book is so great, it was unnecessary to add the violence to sell copies
  • Gripping suspense!

Third Twin is a cleverly constructed thriller laced with twists and turns and edge of your seat suspense! One of Follet’s finest.
  • A Bit Adolescent

SPOILER ALERT: I usually enjoy Follett's writing, especially his sagas/historical novels. However, The Third Twin was a little disappointing. It atarted out very good, but got a little wacky when there turned out to be so many of the "twins" and then downright adolescent towards the end when they went to the hotel to reveal the conspiracy. It was like the author just got tired of telling the story and couldn't think of anything better than a lame disguise.
