Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Combat Ops

Not too long not too short just right. Best Tom Clancy book I've ever read. Really futuristic and really detailed. There will be 2 or 3 inappropriate parts, but awesome book!

One of the biggest attractions of Clancy's writing style is his seemingly obsessive attention to detail and nuanced description of actin sequences. Sadly, this is something that I found to be virtually non-existent in this book. Though definitely a solid, entertaining read, it feels more like a condemnation of our military system that the Clancy-esqe celebration of its warriors I had hoped to read. You could replace the Afghanistan location names with any Vietnamese town names, and believe this novel to be written during that era; standard Vietnam-era plot, standard Vietnam-era character interactions, standard Vietnam-era good guy/bad guy stereotypes. Shades of the jaded, jilted, renegade John Rambo? Having served in Afghanistan and Iraq myself as an army medic, I actually felt embarrassed at the heavy-handed way in which the reader is manipulated. If you're looking for classic Clancy stories like "Rainbow Six", go elsewhere. If you're looking to hear the same military/political rhetoric about broken systems, corrupt and inept warfighters, and evil intelligence agencies, this is for you.

Keep making and I'll keep buying!!!

The way this guy writes pulls you right in, and doesn't let you put the book down! Scott Mitchell is a BAMF! Keep writing and I'll keep buying the Ghost Recon series!

Good idea for story just not told very well. Covers a lot of action with very little detail.

I don't have much time to read but I made time for this book. I can't wait to read another one now!! I'm hooked!
