Description

Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire --maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a favßade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

The Bachelor Auction, is really a sweet, funny and delicious read. Jane and Brock come from two different sides of the tracks. But yet they have more in common then they realize. As if it was fate, Jane lands in his arms of her destined Prince. But not without a little bumps.  The whole idea behind this book was enjoyable. It was easy to fall into and adore. I don't want to give much of the story away. I think that this is a light hearted story, about finding your way, and finally realizing what you really want in life. Overall, I give this book Four Boundless Stars....Lissa

The Bachelor Auction is a classic RVD romance. Filled with flawed people, who only want to find someone to love and accept them for who they and to make life on their own terms. Jane only goal is to keep a promise she made to her father on his death bad. She has sacrificed everything in order to keep her sisters happy and their family intact. However, Jane's decision has left a void in her life and she is starting to drown with the consequences of her choices. Brock is man haunted by the death of his parents and carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. at 12 years of age the word "no" changed his life forever and has devoted his life to becoming a yes man. This has cost him the very essence of his soul and now he is a man adrift. I loved how broken Brock was, he was a shell of a man that couldn't let go the ghost of past. Jane is perfect the foil, thought her life is not perfect it never broke her and she was what Brock desperately needed. someone that would not take his BS and call him on his brokenness but loves him enough to never give up on him. I also love how dealing with Brock required Jane to finally deal with her family and to take a stand in her life, even if she doesn't end up with the guy. The secondary characters in this book are fantastic, the twins Brant and Bentley are the best and I can not wait to read their stories. They had me busting out laughing throughout this story and of course we got a Grandma Nadine cameo and all is right with the world now. A great start to this series and a muss read for all RVD fans and people who love a good romance story.

This book definitely has Rachel Van Dyken stamped all over it! The humor, sexiness, sweet romance, these are things I’ve come to expect from her. She was upfront about the fact that this was a Cinderella story, however, I did feel that it stepped just a little too far into the cliché at times. Overall though, a very fun read and I do recommend it. Brock is a complex fellow. It takes talent to write a hero that is both an alpha and a doormat. Childhood trauma has put him in precarious emotional state and because of it, h hasn’t had the grit to say no to anything his grandfather asks of him. Even when he meets the perfect woman. There were so many things to love about Brock, and my heart absolutely broke over the depth of his grief. However, there were times when I felt like he could be just a little whiny. Even more, I felt like he set aside common sense sometimes. Through hit from his brothers, and off the wall comments from his grandfather, it was clear that the grandfather was not what Brock perceived him to be. I kept wondering why I was the only one picking up on that stuff. Brock is a smart guy, a savvy business man…so why did he miss all the (some of them were certainly not subtle) signs? He is incredibly loyal, very loving, and HOT HOT! Jane is a simpler character, very fitting for the role of “Cinderella.” She’s a hard worker, has a sweet disposition, and even a wry sense of humor at times. She’s an extremely hard worker, and for the most part had and respect and was someone I could see being friends with. Although, if you think Brock is a doormat, Jane gets walked over like popcorn in a movie theater. Her sisters are a freaking nightmare, fitting for the story, of course. But, her determination to do as her dad requested and keep them together as a family is a little over-zealous. I had a hard time swallowing the fact that the three sisters were raised by the same parents. The “step-sister” situation would have made a little more sense to me. As well as the fact that these selfish, spoiled, helpless girls were both successful lawyers. No way would girls like that be able to get through law school, much less take the bar. It tipped her side of the story into unbelievable at times. Together, Brock and Jane were a lot of fun to read. Their sparks and chemistry were sexy as hell and definitely panty-melting at times. They also had cute banter as well as serious, heartfelt conversation. These two were very well-balanced to be each other’s HEA. Brock’s twin brothers, Bentley and Brant are hysterical and I loved their contribution to the story. At the very first of the book, I thought I would dislike them, but it doesn’t take long to fall in love with the quirky, hilarious, manwhore, meddlers. Especially when it becomes clear just how much they adore their brother. This book built up my excitement for their stories. I felt like we could have seen a little bit less of them, and a little bit more alone time with Brock and Jane though. But, yeah. Love those boys. I had a little confusion with a certain secrecy aspect as the end that was never cleared up, and I’m still undecided as to whether I like their grandfather. Haha. But, all in all, the book is fun and sexy, with a little heartbreak thrown in to make sure it’s not all fluff. I will be putting this one on the might re-read shelf and eagerly awaiting the next books in the series.
  • Not for me but I still recommend for light romcom readers

I really like this author, but this book didn't work for me. Most of the characters' behaviors and attitudes put me off. I didn't care for either of the leads. It's sort of a modern tale of Cinderella slashed with a reality tv-ish feel. I do recommend checking it out for those that have enjoyed other Cinderella retellings in book or film.
  • Plain Jane & Boring Brock!

Just Plain Jane and Just Boring Brock were fabulous! This was my first Rachel Van Dyken book, but it won't be the last. Brock's brothers were asinine and hilarious, so I genuinely wish they will be next to get stories. Grandfather was a hoot, as well as Nadine. And I just wanted to smack both of Jane's sisters. A well-written, modern-day Cinderella story. ARC provided by NetGalley.
  • Modern day Cinderella with a twist

I Absolutely Love this book!! So this was one of those books that had me staying up to late to read it and kept trying to sneak in reading more of it whenever I could. This story is a modern day spin on my favorite fairy tale Cinderella. Brock Wellington has for a long time been a yes man. So when his grandfather, and CEO of the family business, said he wanted to auction Brock off, he agreed. Little did he know things would be changing a lot in the next few weeks for him. Jane, or Plain Jane, as her sister's call her, is a hard worker and takes care of her sisters. One night when her sisters drag her to a club she meets Brock. They instantly hit it off. When Jane leaves however they don't really know if they will see each other again. This story included a lovable grandpa, some crazy animals, and some comical man slut brothers. I love Brock's brothers Bentley and Brant, I can't wait for their stories! We also got to see a bit from that fun loving wild grandma Nadine from The Bet series. I am so glad I read this book. The only issue I had with it was it used the F word quite a bit which I am not used to from Rachel's books. But that is just a personal preference and I just kind of read over them. I loved watching this story unfold. It had me laughing and it melted my heart. It shows that love is worth the fight and will win in the end!! Overall this was an awesome book!!
