The real nightmare starts when her daughter is returned…

A girl is missing. Five years old, taken from outside her school. She has vanished, traceless.

The police are at a loss; her parents are beyond grief. Their daughter is lost forever, perhaps dead, perhaps enslaved.

But the biggest mystery is yet to come: one week after she was abducted, their daughter is returned.

She has no memory of where she has been. And this, for her mother, is just the beginning of the nightmare.

Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, C. L. Taylor and Lucy Foley

I have enjoyed all the other books by this author but this one was hard to even finish. Would not recommend sadly.

Grabbed my attention but was difficult to stay engaged. Highly predictable. I figured out who kidnapped her almost immediately.

And the mother-in-law and husband were a little over the top and not believable.

Has a twist at the end, a little unexpected but also kinda saw it coming. The rest of the book leading up to it really drug out and I was kinda bored.

“...as she turned into the main road, she passed a man, his springer spaniel wet with sweat yet still straining at the lead.” So, dogs don't sweat. It's why they pant. Common knowledge. There are so many additional errors that it was distracting. This felt like a draft rather than a finished product. Needs better editing! Minimal character development. Decent plot, but it would take the right editors to get this into shape.
  • Not too bad

The book itself was pretty interesting, and had my attention from yesterday afternoon when I started reading it till close to midnight when I finished it. I struggled to like the main character though. Julia was whiny, never content, and a pain to read about. I was actually rooting for Brian by the middle, and was disappointed in how it ended. It was somewhat predictable, but didn't stop me from wanting to see how it ended.
  • A good, quick read

Lots of action. The storyline was interesting, but if you're a fan of the mystery/thriller genre then the "bad guy" is quite obvious early on. A good, quick read that doesn't require a lot of the reader in terms of remembering hints, clues, characters, etc. Even though the ending was predictable, it was still a page turner.
