Description

Finally, a no-holds-barred word on dating, preparing for marriage and maximizing singleness from someone who’s actually living it.
Your attitudes about marriage and the path to marriage are wrong. Some you’ve inherited, some you’ve simply bought—hook, line, and sinker—and some you’ve made up yourself. They have translated into bad action (or no action) in dating and relationships. But it’s not too late; you can break the cycle of dating dysfunction and learn to honor marriage, marry well, and live intentionally while you wait. Lisa Anderson proves it’s possible.

The Dating Manifesto is neither a cheesy formula for finding a spouse nor a feel-good book about how the person for you is “out there” if you only “believe.”Instead, it’s a challenge to wise up, own your junk, and chart a bold new course for your relationship future.

La-la-loved this book!! She is appropriately funny and brutally honest at the same time! It's appropriate not only for: (1) women, but also men who can't seem to see how they can drive women crazy with their "meh" attitude and vagueness altogether. (2) "spinsters" but teens (who may want to avoid this issue altogether). (3) singles, but marrieds <- (yes I did that on purpose) and pastors, ministers, and counsellors. Just about anyone can read this book and take something away. Young parents should read it, so they can ensure they teach their children to avoid bad dating habits by raising boys who become self-sufficient young men who can provide for a family, and girls who become self-sufficient, yet confident damsels who will not become the "man" in the relationship. The book was a breeze to read! I read it in a matter of days! It was very fun and engaging from beginning to end. I would say it was enlightening, but pretty much everything she said I already knew deep down, just hadn't heard anyone else put it into words like she did! I agreed with her wholeheartedly! I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Lisa, you are a kindred spirit. Thank you for being bold enough to write about your singleness and for being our voice. Reading the book I laughed, teared up, and I was encouraged. This book reinforced my Christian views on single life in a positive and in a realistic way. And thanks for no cake toppers on the cover of the book :)
