Hard Beat

I'm a very emotional reader. I laugh, I cry, I feel. Going in to Hard Beat, I was nervous. I was scared. I had not even a hint of what was going to happen with the story line. I like that. I like to be surprised. And boy did Tanner and Beaux's story surprise me. Their first meeting, where Beaux told Tanner "So you're the one, huh?," gave me an immediate flashback to a scene from Top Gun. First time a book has given me a flashback to a movie! I loved it! With every surprise twist in the book, my emotions were all over the place. At one point, I couldn't turn the page because I was terrified of what was going to happen. I seriously could not turn the page. I sat there staring at it for a good five minutes. I messaged a friend who laughed at me evilly. I finally found the courage to continue. And I was surprised yet again. Hard Beat had me from the begging and never let go. I am a huge fan of K. Bromberg's works. She's an awesome writer and I've loved everything I've read. With Hard Beat, she took her amazing talent to another level. I have to say, it's easily my most favorite of her books to date. If you haven't read anything by her, I urge you to pick up Hard Beat, or any of her other works. You won't be disappointed!

It's been about 2 weeks since I finished Hard Beat. It literally left me speechless! The emotions you feel when reading this book are so deep and heartfelt. It affected me as if I knew these characters in real life! What I can say is that I loved this book so much! I seriously don't think I breathed during the last half of the book. Kristy's words are incredible and beautiful and heart wrenching! The bubbles!! Oh the bubbles were amazing! I loved Beaux & Tanner's characters. Colton & Tanner's scenes were funny...I love anytime Colton makes an appearance! The proposal was the amazing & beautiful and perfect! It's definitely in my top 5 favorite books. ❤️

Hurry up and wait. You are waiting expecting something, anything to happen. Secretly you hope so. And very soon. Whatever happens, it needs to be big. It needs to be brash. And you are the very first to know. This is the life of an embedded reporter. Just watch the evening news. Days even weeks go by with nothing but status quo. Then the big news. It's all over, sudden, terrifying. What a rush they must feel after being so tightly stretched like a piano string. "Are you on a suicide mission, now?" To the unknowing person, Tanner and Beaux have landed themselves in hostile territory on purpose. No one trusting anyone least of all those who you think you should. Tanner and Beaux first meeting is explosive. Once it's the morning after and plans are revealed, each one of them is untrusting of the other. Yet, there is an attraction. Ms. Bromberg allows her characters a careful dance, each giving just a little, earning maybe just a little more trust. Or do they really? The first half of the book as the reader you feel the slow burn of this tightrope walk the relationship builds. Just when you think they are headed to a HEA, well, life has other plans for them. If you are a K.Bromberg fan, she delivers on her writing and story telling. Yes, it's a departure from the 'norm' as it's slow, underlying tension driving the story the characters live in. If you are a new reader, this is a bit different from her other books, but still a very enjoyable read.

Generally, I love everything K. Bromberg writes and I will continue to read whatever she puts out. However, this one was a little disappointing for me. I didn't feel as connected to the characters and struggled to get through it.

The Driven Series is one of my favorites and I loved the spin offs of them. Sweet Ache was my favorite of them but now it's Hard Beat!! Loved the chemistry between Tanner and Beaux. I felt the sexual tension. Ahahah. This book gave me sad tears and happy tears. Highly recommend this book.

Hard Beat by K. Bromberg lived up to my expectations and more! It was exciting, steamy and so very sexy. I loved Tanner and Beaux.
