A beautiful story of faith. Savannah loved her family very much but she loved God even more. She kept her faith yet never complained when life challenged that faith.

I didn't want this story to end! I wish the author had developed more characters and expanded the tale. A great read!

Ms. Alexander is a decent writer, I think with a little effort she could come up with a way to depict the South that is more level-headed. What a tragedy the Civil War was for those poor plantation owners! To be fair, I'm sure it led to suffering and hardship for them as well as for the entire South. I'm aware that there is more than one narrative running through the history of that beautiful part of the country. But an attempt to recreate the South with no reference to African Americans or slavery is disconcerting and vacuous at best. I know that isn't the crux of the story and it might introduce elements that complicate what is meant to be a light hearted romance, but really, it's the two-ton elephant sitting in the room. Not talking about it made me uneasy and irritated. A disappointing read from a talented writer.
