Description

“Thor tops himself again and again.” —Bookreporter
“Feels like the TV show 24 on the page.” —Associated Press

#1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor presents his greatest thriller ever—an action-packed literary tour de force!

Hidden deep within one of the world’s most powerful organizations is a secret committee with a devastating agenda. Its members are afforded incredible protections—considered elites, untouchables.

But when four seconds of video is captured halfway around the world and anonymously transmitted to DC, covert wheels are set in motion, and counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath is tapped to undertake the deadliest assignment of his career.

What begins as a favor will evolve into a globe-spanning drama of highly personal stakes played out against a backdrop of stunning international intrigue, duplicitous political gamesmanship, and the darkest, most clandestine fears of the espionage world.

With razor-sharp plotting, richly rendered characters, and heart-stopping surprises on every page, Thor isn’t just at the top of his game—he owns the entire genre.

  • Scary how true this could be

I’ve read all of the Scot Harvath novels up to this one and was honestly scared at how ‘real’ this situation felt…especially after COVID. I just hope we have actual Scot Harvath’s amongst us to protect us.

This book was written in 2015. I read in 2023. Having lived through the Covid-19 Pandemic and seeing what Thor wrote about almost ten years is scary. This has happened and can happen. One of his best in the series. Some of the plot I wish he expounded on and not just give me a few sentences about advancing it. I wanted to hear more of the story.
  • Scary prophetic in 2021!

Creepy insightful and prophetic as we learn more about the current bureaucracy and it’s roll in the pandemic of 2020.

Really really liked that this one - kept me wondering how the virus came into play until the very end. It made it really interesting. I liked the way the story flowed even if it did take a bit to get going. It did feel a bit slow at the beginning and I felt it took them too long to discover there was a virus to begin with, but it ended pretty well. Would have liked to see Damien killed in a different way, seemed too simple for what he had committed but nonetheless finding him somewhat made up for that. Still felt a bit rushed towards the end as well. Helena’s story just dropped and I didn’t like that part being that she was a key player as well as Mordechai. Overall very well done, just think it should’ve been a bit longer given the characters involved!

I could not put this book down. I have been a Scot Horvath fan from my first encounter with the books in this series.

I have read a few of the Harvath books and enjoyed them. However this one was a slow story that was to political. Meaning to much time spent setting up the reasons behind the plot. The ending was rushed and haphazard. All in all I had a hard time finishing this book. To be honest my motivation was to see how he was going to finish it in the remaining 20 pages..

As always, Brad Thor delivers a great read in The Code of Conduct. Scot Harvath and his group have been tested time and time again, coming through for the people they protect. The story line is chilling, to say the least. You won't regret getting this one. I couldn't put it down.
