The cover art is to die for. Can we just start there? The art is fantastic. It's a real step-up from the cover on the first volume. I have the digital version, so I can zoom in and look at the gorgeous details as much as I want without worrying about the cover fading or being damaged over time. Character introductions continue in this volume, and Shinoa gets up to no good with some hilarious jokes. The actions scenes and character development moments are well-written. We also finally get some MikaMikaMika! How he was turned into a vampire is different than what the first volume might make you believe. More characters from the light novels appear as well. The teaching and training at the school come to a close as pieces of everyone's tragic backstories are revealed. This is a post-Apocalyptic world, so, yes, everyone has a tragic backstory and quite possibly a tragic future. Can you kill your new friend when ordered to do so? The extras reveal the origin story of Kimizuki's glasses, which is actually pretty funny.

This was like the best manga book I've ever read! It's so good! It would be better if it were free...
