Description

'Rebeca's Revenge' was written by me many years ago, but until now, I did not feel comfortable publishing it as it would have greatly conflicted with the image that I had established over a fifteen year period with my child readership audience. Now however, in the autumn of my life where I write only for adults, it feels appropriate to have this 'strictly for adults' story published widely.

'Rebecca's Revenge' is a story that spans fifty years in the life of a teenage girl between the 1950s and the New Millennium. Sally Cartwright has an identity crisis after discovering her physical attraction for another girl. After her mother deserts the family home, her father kills himself and her friend is raped by the master's son, the villagers of rural Mirfield in West Yorkshire ostracise her and she heads for the mills of Manchester to seek work and a new future.

Over the next forty years our heroine changes her identity, moves to the fashion houses of France, marries a business mogul, then enters to the cut and thrust of the boardroom world of the New York business conglomerates before returning to West Yorkshire to seek her revenge on her friend's rapist and the villagers who drove her away.

'Rebecca's Revenge' uses the everyday coarser language of the mills in parts of the book and doesn't shy away from a number of themes that may shock. It is a book that will be hard to put down until it has been read from cover to cover.
