Description

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover returns with a heart-stopping new series… Welcome to the Point.

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, awakening feelings she never thought she’d have for a guy like him. But it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize . . . some boys are just better when they’re bad.

I have read all of Jay’s books and his series is my favorite. She made a place that was real, a world where you always have to look over your shoulder and brought he beauty out in that. Even though her characters are supposed to be “hard” they have something to actually live for. Someone to come home to after what could be the worst day of your life. That they are in it with you, always. She always gives so much emotion and such fierce love to all of her characters that your wishing you had something like that and dreaming about all of your favorites. I wasn’t even able to pick up another book yet, because all I was thinking about was what could have happened after the book ended.

I went into this book with high hopes. It started out good, but seriously just got boring and droned on to the end. It's my first time reading this author, and I'm not sure if I'll read more of her books. If the first book in the series does not hold my attention I probably will not continue reading the rest! There was just not enough substance to it all. Maybe younger readers will not notice the difference and be drawn into this series, and that's fine for them, but with so many good authors out there I expect more as a reader!

I think that every good girl has had a thing for a bad boy. Bad is definitely a bad boy and Dovie just cannot get enough of him. Bax gets out of prison and comes home to find that things are not good and his best friend is missing and when he starts checking out the neighborhood and asking questions he finds Dovie and learns that she is his best friends sister. They are now thrown together because of circumstance and the attraction begins. Their relationship grows and unfolds during their search for Race. Good story of how love blossoms and how someone can overlook the bad and understand that waiting and giving someone time but not judging can show someone that has never known real love that it does exist.
  • Not you typical bad boy, good girl story

I loved this beginning of a new series. The story is darker than the marked men series, but characters are just as developed. This story gives a twist to the happy ever after.

I can't believe I waited this long to read this. I've read all of the books in her other series but some how missed this. This one has got to be one of my favorites that she has written. A must read!

This was amazing. I finished it in one sitting. There was so much raw emotion and the characters just drew you in. It was dark and gritty and HOT! Loved it.

I read all of the Marked Men books and loved those. Then I read this book, and I just wasn't buying the storyline. Their relationship seemed ridiculous to me.

    Wow...
  • Bax might be bad but he was not evil.

Story is told from both POV's. Having both POV's is good for a story like this one since the story is about a good girl and bad guy and its helps to figure out what the other is thinking. The pace is nice. It's holding my attention. Jay is a good writer. She writes an entertaining story. The plot is exciting and dangerous. The characters are good. I read all the marked men books but I have to say her best book written was Rule and none compare to that one. The rest of Jay's books are good but none are as good as Rule. Bax spends more time having sex than being bad. The sex was explicit and arousing, but I was actually more interested in the bad that Bax had to offer. I did not feel like Bax was bad. I felt he only made bad decisions. Dovie was not convincing enough for me to believe she had the capacity to change his ways. The element of surprise was really no surprise to me in this story. It was an interesting story. I'm sure not everyone will agree with my review or rating but it is my opinion. Once again I stipulate to not state this was not helpful because my review is based on what I felt while reading.

Great book. Highly Recommend Reading! Not only was this book HOT, it offered a lot to say about our society. Bad boys usually do have good. But, too often it requires more effort than people are willing to invest to find it. In a subtle yet vivid manner the book then integrates the reality of the struggles facing people who fall into the lower social economic environment. Trying to show the "good" in that situation can be nearly impossible. It is not often that a book supplies steamy sex and hot men with a legitimate issue existing in our society.
