In December 1976, Reverend Rex Humbard and his wife Maude Aimee met backstage with Elvis Presley in Las Vegas where the 'King of Rock and Roll' was performing. Feeling bored and dissatisfied with his work, Elvis turned to his favorite televangelist for guidance. Elvis grew up in a religious household, so he turned to religious leaders like Rex Humbard when he felt lost. He searched for meaning through spirituality all through his life. Elvis asked Rex if he should "give up singing and devote himself to the Lord." Rex told him that he was doing the Lord's work by bringing his music to people. Elvis' stepbrother Rick Stanley confirmed that "Elvis recommitted his life to Jesus Christ on that night." Six months later, Elvis was dead.
