Description

An instant #1 New York Times bestseller and perfect summer beach read.
“No one does funny, emotional, life-affirming love stories quite like Abby Jimenez. She just keeps outdoing herself." ―EMILY HENRY

There's no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an a*****e wrong . . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.

But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be. Only no amount of distance or time is enough to forget what's between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life—and even a love—worth remembering.

From the moment I picked it up, I couldn't put it down! Page after page was filled with emotions and characters that felt so relatable. I found myself praying for a happily ever after, and this book didn’t disappoint. The author truly knows how to blend romance and comedy, creating a perfect balance that kept me hooked until the very end. If you're looking for a book that will make you laugh, cry, and believe in love, this is it!

It’s Abby’s newest book, so of course I preordered this. I love all of her books. This one, however, just didn’t “hit” quite right. Obviously, it wasn’t bad enough for me to give it a low rating, but this is the first of Abby’s books that I couldn’t rate with a glowing five stars. I liked the pacing. The dialogue was great. I felt like there could’ve been some more character development, though. I think this was also just more difficult for me to enjoy because the conflict was overt. The problem was trying to make a long-distance relationship work, with no end to the distance in sight. This wasn’t a temporary circumstance of a deployment or other job requiring traveling. I also felt like, in order to turn the ending into her signature “happily ever after,” Abby tied things up a little TOO easily, too neatly. Some parts of the resolution just didn’t feel realistic for me, and one thing I love about Abby’s books is how real and relatable they are. There was also a story arc that I was very much opposed to, although different people have different perspectives on this. Abby herself has even said that particular arc is “intentionally nuanced and complex,” in her own words (join the spoiler group for more amazing tidbits straight from her!). Having lost my own dad do Alzheimer’s, though, this particular story arc fell with a rotten-tomato splat to me. Dearest fellow readers, please don’t let this deter you from reading the book. Plenty of people love it, and I do understand why. Like I said, I did enjoy the book. I finished it in two days!

My favorite book of hers so far. Loved the characters so much! Can’t say much more without giving anything away, but it all felt so real.
