Description

Fast-paced, chilling, and bursting with tension, We Don't Leave is a psychological thriller in the vein of Jennifer Hillier, Riley Sager, and Kiersten Modglin.

Remey Owens is desperate to move on with her life after the brutal murder of her next-door neighbour, Marlena. When the opportunity to housesit for her best friend's parents arises, it feels almost too good to be true. While staying in the beautiful Craftsman-style home, she hopes she won't hear the banging through the walls or Marlena crying, even if it is now only in her mind.

But things don't go as planned.

While she finds some solace knowing that Marlena's killer is dead, the calls from Remey's obsessive ex and the strange noises in the house make it hard to relax. And there's a prickling down her spine when she returns late one evening after a date—something's amiss.

Soon, it becomes apparent that she's not as alone as she believed. The quiet isolation of the home that had once seemed peaceful, now feels far more threatening. Here, there are no neighbours close enough to save her.

To survive the night, Remey must let go of everything she thought she knew about Marlena's death. Because the terrifying truth is more disturbing than she could have imagined, and it's coming for her too.

"I am obsessed... A fast-paced, jaw-dropping, completely twisted story of friendship, heartache, and obsession... demands to be read in one sitting." -Kiersten Modglin, bestselling author of The Arrangement Trilogy

Remey Owens was consumed with guilt regarding the murder of her neighbor Marlena. She couldn’t get the dead eyes of Marlena out of her mind after she had seen the body, which had been unforgivingly thrown into a dumpster. What evil lurks in the soul of the killer who had committed this terrible crime? Before her death, Remey had tried to befriend Marlena so she could have someone she could count on. That day, the terror in Marlena’s eyes was haunting as she quietly whispered something to Remey while secretly slipping a piece of paper into her hand. Unfortunately, it had been too late to save Marlena and her death haunted Remey, even after she had escaped to the safety and solitude of the countryside. Even though Remey was far away from the scene of the crime, she couldn’t stop thinking about Marlena’s death and not even a cozy house in the woods could silence the debilitating demons that were occupying her mind. In order for her to truly start over, Remey needed to admit that there was nothing she could have done to save Marlena. Meeting new people and getting back to work would give her something else to think about. Unbeknownst to Remey, danger and evil were lurking in the shadows and if she wasn’t careful, trusting the wrong person may be the last decision she will ever make.
