Description

Years ago, he shattered her heart. Now she must trust him with her life.

As the only girl in her family, and with four older brothers, Ivy McQuaid can rope and ride with the roughest of ranchers. She's ready to have what she's always longed for--a home of her own. She's set her heart on a parcel of land south of Fairplay and is saving for it with her winnings from the cowhand competitions she sneaks into--but her dream is put in jeopardy when the man she once loved reappears in her life.

After two years away, Jericho Bliss is back in South Park as an undercover Pinkerton agent searching for a war criminal. He has no intention of involving a woman in the dangerous life he leads, but one look at Ivy is all it takes for him to question the path he's set out for himself.

Even though Jericho tries to resist his longtime attraction to the beautiful and vivacious Ivy, he finds himself falling hard and fast for her. In the process, his worst fear comes true--he puts her smack-dab in the middle of danger. With Ivy's life in the balance, will Jericho give her up once again, or will he find a way back to her, this time forever?

I have been reading this series from the beginning. I was afraid I wouldn’t like this one because Ivy was a little immature as a girl. But of course, Jody Hedlund always writes characters that are lovable. So needless to say, I loved the characters and loved the story. Looking forward to the final book in the series. (And I do recommend reading the whole series in order!)

Jody Hedlund’s Colorado Cowboy’s series continues with the fourth book, but this time the main character is a cowgirl. I greatly enjoyed this sweet story of ivy and Jericho who have known (and be attracted to) each other for years but have never expressed their feelings for each other. Ivy is a feisty heroine, basically raised by her older brothers. She can rope and ride with the best of the local cowboys. Jericho is an honorable hero, keeping his promise to Ivy’s brother, Dylan, not to see her as anything other than a little sister, but struggling with his feelings every step of the way. Once again Hedlund has written a delightful romance set amidst the Colorado ranches of the 1860’s including the danger associated with outlaws and the search for treasure. This book kept me turning page after page to get to the end only to wish there were more pages to turn. I believe that this story could be read as a stand-alone but would be better enjoyed by reading the other three books in the series. I highly recommend this book to readers of clean historical fiction. I am definitely looking forward to the fifth book. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions stated are my own.

This book was amazing! Ivy is bullheaded and reckless and Jericho is a bossy brat…and I love them both for it! I was enraptured by the story and found Ivy’s thoughts and feelings so relatable at times, that I actually found myself tearing up. Isn’t it great when a story is so good that it brings out the emotions in you? Confession time. I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it. With how enthralled I’ve been over each of the previous books in the series, there was no way this one was going to disappoint, lol, but what really surprised me was just how in tune I felt with Ivy’s heart. With plenty of action, mishaps, witty banter and charming characters, this is a book you will definitely not want to miss! Author Jody Hedlund has comprised a tale that is sure to satisfy lovers of all things western, high spirited and adventurous. Highly recommended!

When Ivy literally rides into the story on the very first pages in all her bold, fearless, and sassy glory, I knew this book was going to capture my heart. Until I came to the very last page, it did exactly that. Ivy’s antics as a young girl in previous Colorado Cowboy books, always made me smile, but Ivy as an adult is an absolute treasure! She is my favorite kind of heroine—strong, loyal, funny, spunky, stubborn, passionate, unconcerned about the opinions or expectations of others, and she doesn’t take guff off of anyone—especially her older, overprotective brothers. I adore her! Years ago, Jericho Bliss came west with the McQuaid’s, and Ivy has had a crush on him ever since. He left Colorado a few years earlier, breaking Ivy’s heart in the process, but he’s back on a secret mission as a Pinkerton officer in pursuit of a dangerous war criminal. He’s completely smitten with Ivy, but for her safety and protection, he keeps pushing her away and fighting his attraction. It’s definitely a losing battle. Their bantering, flirting, butting heads, and romance were a delight! So was revisiting the McQuaid’s with their strong family bonds, and the beautiful and poignant references to God and our need of Him. You can always rely on Judy Hedlund to deliver a story that’s well written, engaging, has romantic moments that are clean but sizzling, and great characters that are realistic, relatable, and so likable. Falling For the Cowgirl is a wonderful and strong addition to this series, and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys good Christian fiction, western romance, and great storytelling. Thanks to NetGalley and Bethany House Publishers for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
