  • Good mystery with a surprise ending

    -Interesting mystery surrounding the disappearance of a young girl in Portland, Oregon. Katie was a high achiever and, out of high school, won a coveted position as one of 30 pages who were assistants to Senators in Washington, DC. She returned to Portland for the holidays and, on December 13, was last known to have been walking her sister's dog, when she vanished. -Three friends were involved in helping to crack the case. Allison is a prosecutor for Portland who was given this case to pursue. Nicole is an FBI agent and was one of the officers in charge of the case. Cassidy is a reporter for a television news station and covering this case, which, with the help of morsels of information from her friends, was going to be her big break. -Possible reasons for Katie's disappearance come up, as well as the possibility that this was homicide. As the story progresses, each of the three friends are found to have their own issues that they have to deal with and those side stories are mixed with that of the missing girl. -The writer adds an unusual way of telling the story by interspersing the story of the girl's disappearance with her diary/ blog, beginning from a few months before December 13. -The pace picks up in the end and the writing gets better as the book progresses, but the descriptions of each of the characters in the beginning is not done as well as the writing done by others and the overall writing is not nearly up to that of, for example, a J.K.Rowling. It's worth reading, but not a compelling read.

    Excellent read. Great storyline with interesting characters. The FINALLY!!! is for a well written fiction mystery based upon strong women and no sexual plots. I'm so tired of reading books that have strong female characters, great story lines but the author feels the need to flesh it out with either overly sexual descriptions of her character or to intertwine a male character to create sexual chemistry and/or story lines. When will authors accept that people will read books created around female leads without that? Perhaps authors should read reviews placed in these type of forums. My opinion is not a singular one. So if looking for a great read, twists and turns and not bordering on a Harlequin romance (no insult intended) then definitely this is the author for you. I cannot wait to read her continuation series knowing a great storyline will not have pages of unneeded sexual plots. No I'm not a prude. If I want sexual plots I read 50 Shades of Grey. I just want to be able to read great fiction with strong female characters who are not driven as much by their libido as their intelligence.

    The summary of the book looked nice, but reading it was different. I ready about 6 chapters and the book flip flopped to different characters at least 4 times. I find it hard to keep up with 4 different people doing 4 different things. This book just wasn't for me unfortunately.

    I am now on the 4th book of the series, and I have blown through the first three because I couldn't put them down. They just keep getting better and better! Don't be discouraged if you feel a lack of connection with the characters at first; their stories unfold more with each book, and each book leaves you more attached to them, and eager for more! Highly recommend this series!
