  • Outdated information

I was initially impressed with the format and colorful presentation of this eBook. But when I followed the instructions and downloaded the required Cocos2d software, I found it revised quite a bit since this was written, therefore many of the examples and tutorials are no longer correct. Not a whole lot you can do with out-of-date information.

I've had many java courses and was put off by objective c's strange syntax. This book made it easy to understand what was going on. The examples are clear and I appreciate that the author didn't add too many methods in one example. I hate it when books over complicate things by using every class method in one example program. This book builds on previous examples, which is the best.

I feel like this book was written just for me. I don't consider myself a programmer. When I read most programming books, they go way over my head. In this book Justin identifies with you and encourages you by pointing out that he too isn't a "programmer" but an artist, yet he has made several apps. I love how there are videos built into the book so you can see some of the concepts in action while reading. I can read on the couch without having to say "I should go to my desk and try to find a video that shows how to do this". It's also a fun to read book. Justin's teaching style is perfect for anyone who wants their learning to be fun and engaging, and that suits me well. If you've always wanted to make a game but don't think you're a programmer, definitely give this book a shot.
