“Touching and powerful...Reid masterfully grabs hold of the heartstrings and doesn't let go. A stunning first novel.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Have you ever heard of supernovas? They shine brighter than anything else in the sky and then fade out really quickly, a short burst of extraordinary energy. I like to think you and Ben were like that . . . in that short time, you had more passion than some people have in a lifetime.”

Elsie Porter is an average twentysomething and yet what happens to her is anything but ordinary. On a rainy New Year’s Day, she heads out to pick up a pizza for one. She isn’t expecting to see anyone else in the shop, much less the adorable and charming Ben Ross. Their chemistry is instant and electric. Ben cannot even wait twenty-four hours before asking to see her again. Within weeks, the two are head over heels in love. By May, they’ve eloped.

Only nine days later, Ben is out riding his bike when he is hit by a truck and killed on impact. Elsie hears the sirens outside her apartment, but by the time she gets downstairs, he has already been whisked off to the emergency room. At the hospital, she must face Susan, the mother-in-law she has never met—and who doesn’t even know Elsie exists.

Interweaving Elsie and Ben’s charmed romance with Elsie and Susan’s healing process, Forever, Interrupted will remind you that there’s more than one way to find a happy ending.

Forever Interrupted: A Novel isn't your typical romance novel. If you are looking for a book to sweep you off your feet from the word go, this isn't for you. This book takes a tragedy and makes you struggle with the aftermath right along with the main character, Elsie Porter Ross. She eventually comes to grips with reality when she learns to lean on those close to her and in turn she becomes a rock to those people. The author did a very good job of forcing me to question myself as if I were going through the same situation. As with her other book, After I Do, I found myself thinking about not just myself but how friends and family cope with the same situation. I suppose the moral of a Taylor Jenkins Reid story is to remember if you are suffering and you think you are alone, you are not and that is a very comforting thought.
  • Make it stop

Not sure what I had in mind for this book but I kept waiting for something to happen and literally nothing did. It was like Groundhog Day but a lot less fun or interesting. I'm really not sure what the point was. I love a good summer read but this was not it.
  • My new favorite book

By Momma of twins plus two
I never write reviews but I had to take the time to write about this one. I read this book in 12 hours. I could not put it down. I laughed and cried and want to go back and start again. A must read.

  • The Trifecta!

Reid has a splendidly combines humor, charm, and sadness into one novel. The tagline "a different kind of love story" is so accurate here. She writes of great love and great tragedy without using any hackneyed cliches that have have your rolling your eyes or making a 'yuck' face. Defiantly giving a copy to my mom and sister. It is a great novel that I know I will read again in a few months time.
  • Funny, charming, uplifting

    By Tim P. (Seattle, WA)
The author has a real knack for humor and articulating the ups and downs of love. I couldn't put it down, it took me less than a day to get through it and I can tell it's going to be a go-to read for me over and over again. Five stars.

Forever Interrupted is a extremely well written, heart-wrenching and also a very fun book. It explores love and grief through two character relationships that exposes interesting truths about these emotions. Im so busy, so I don't read novels too often anymore, but am very happy I read this. I found the characters compelling and the story though provoking.
