Description

Annemarie “Shug” Wilcox is clever and brave and true (on the inside anyway). And she’s about to become your new best friend in this enchanting middle grade novel from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (soon to be a major motion picture!), Jenny Han.

Annemarie Wilcox, or Shug as her family calls her, is beginning to think there's nothing worse than being twelve. She's too tall, too freckled, and way too flat-chested. Shug is sure that there's not one good or amazing thing about her. And now she has to start junior high, where the friends she counts most dear aren't acting so dear anymore -- especially Mark...

I read this year four years ago and ever since then, this has been one of my favorite books. I feel that the relationship between shug and her mother is extremely relatable. Growing up, I was never too fond of reading, but this book... This book got me VERY into reading. This masterpiece is arguably the best story by Jenny Han. I would definitely recommend this. You won’t be disappointed!!

I read this book around 7 or 6 years ago and to this day I still remember it. I remember how engaged and intrigued I was as I read this, and to this day I still am when I re-read it.

The plot of this book is her having issues with her friends and her mother’s drinking problem. NONE of these issues felt resolved they just got fixed with no explanation. the book went by so fast you don’t really get to know the characters. Spoiler I also felt the author missed a chance when Anne-Marie’s mother disappeared maybe if she called jack and he comforted her it would’ve made their transition from enemies into friends more strong. You never really see them hanging out or anything so I’m confused why the book wants me to believe their close,

This book sounds like it really happened, everything does NOT fall perfectly into place like most books like these do and you'll like that about it. It really touches your heart and is hard to stop reading.
