Description

America is being Screwed!, say Dick Morris and Eileen McGann, by China, Russia, the EU, and other nations with the help of our own political and business leaders. The co-authors of nine explosive New York Times bestsellers—including Revolt!, Catastrophe, Fleeced, Outrage, and 2010: Take Back America—Morris and McGann now expose a massive global scandal that affects the lives and livelihood of every American: the undeniable truth that foreign countries are ripping America off and plundering our economy. With the unemployment rate soaring and the economic picture growing bleaker by the hour, Screwed! is a necessary wake-up call for every concerned citizen, from middle class workers and Tea Party conservatives to labor leaders and environmentalists who oppose globalism and its negative economic and environmental repercussions.

  • Shill book with a shill title

This book is nothing more than propaganda for the right wing and upper 1%, and not even good propaganda at that, with unsubstantiated conspiracies outlined by a (if I remember correctly) democratic-turned-republican-for-hire Dick Morris, famous for allegedly hiring prostitutes for toe-sucking, and did so with a government check (supposedly how he was caught). Do you really want to listen to this from that kind of source? Also, I greatly resent the fact that this book was obviously titled so people confuse it with the very excellent, well-sourced Thom Hartmann book, "Screwed: The Undeclared War on the Middle Class," written many years ago. Due to the very bad quality of this other book by Morris/McGann, I imagine it was written purely to distract from the Hartmann best-seller. If you want facts, buy the Hartmann book. If you want shill conjecture by a Fox Noise stuffed shirt, waste your money on this book.

If the authors had just presented the facts and presented their perspective on those facts, this could have been a good book. Instead it is full of alarmist, conspiracy theory garbage
  • Poorly researched, Poorly written

This reminds me of my son when he was about four years old: "it's not my fault, someone else made me do it, etc, etc." Blaming the Chinese, IMF, scientists, Democrats, etc, etc, for the current state of American politics and economics is a bit tired and off point. Remember that under Regan we armed the Taliban, there was a budget surplus after Clinton, defunding secondary and post secondary education will not make the US more competitive on the world stage. Differing opinions are fine, but please do a bit more research and present the full picture, not simply a "They did it to us" view. We have "screwed" ourselves through short sighted policies and political agendas, and it is up to us, and no one else, to rectify the situation while working with others around the world.
