Description

Pirates of Savannah : The Complete Trilogy, is a historical fiction novel about the birth of liberty in the south. It takes place during pre-Revolutionary War age, truly a fascinating time in history that has been greatly ignored by other authors. At its heart, it is a tale of prisoners, refugees and society’s casts offs all joining together to escape from government tyranny and discover a path to liberty. Find out how a group of oppressed colonists gain the courage to start defying authority and begin planning a revolution from British control. It is a gritty, vivid account of what life was like in the 1700's and is loaded with real, obscure historical events that time erased and buried. Follow the group of freedom seekers as their adventure takes them through Savannah, the Florida Keys, St. Augustine, Charles Towne and Cape Fear, as well as many other towns of the Low Country. Most importantly it is a fun read loaded with action.

Please note: There are two versions of this novel, one for adults and one that has been adapted to be the first in a trilogy of novels for young adults. If you spend your booty on this, you're buying the adult version, yarrr.

  • Hokey ending

I have read a lot of historical fiction and I can say that it's very easy to cross that line from amazing to hokey. This book goes from an amazing depiction of what colonial life was like and walking the streets of Savannah in the early days. I kept wondering, though "where are the Pirates?" as I read. Then the "pirate" story line came in and I wished it hadn't. It was almost like I was reading a different book from a different author. Some of it was so hokey and unbelievable that I caught myself laughing out loud at it. Disappointing end to a great book.

What an entertaining read! Although this is a fictional account, it really captures the essence of the time period. There are some really gritty scenes as well as some uplifting moments. Overall it has a great message. The interaction between the characters and their colorful lives will really hold your interest. Underneath it all is the fight to escape tyranny and find true liberty. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it! (I already had the print version but decided to pick up the electronic version so I could read it on the go.)

Pirates of Savannah is one sexy history lesson. You'll follow the adventures of a motley band of miscreants while learning all about the historical period. You'll get to know some very interesting characters, as well as experience their struggle to create an independent society. All the while you'll be riding the roller coaster ride that is Patrick's life enjoying being privy to his ups and downs if you know what I mean. Pirates of Savannah touches a wide audience. You will enjoy it thoroughly.

Whether you enjoy anarcho-libertarian fiction, historical fiction or both, you'll love "Pirates of Savannah." Tarrin has painted a vivid picture of what life looked, sounded, and even tasted and smelled like in the 18th Century, and has weaved a tale of individualism and battle against the state machine that will delight liberty lovers.

Go give this book a read, it is jam packed with real history but still fun to read. The novel is really more of an adventure book because it moves so fast compared to most historical fiction.
