Description

BURNING WATERS

Designated Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, Matt Reddy must now contend with a new threat; the Dominion—humans whose lust for power matches the Grik. But even though the Grand Alliance recognizes the danger of the Dominion, it must deal with the land-based Grik first, leaving the Imperial navy—and USS Walker—with little assistance.

As war rages, more Japanese ships come through the time-space maelstrom that the Americans call The Squall. One is a “Hell Ship,” carrying prisoners of an Imperial Japan that is growing ever more ruthless in the face of looming defeat. Escorting it is a new, state-of-the-art destroyer, whose officers recognize no rules of war.

Fighting on two fronts, Reddy is plunged into a firestorm of loyalty, betrayal, and sacrifice. But nothing can prepare him for a devastating new Grik weapon—a weapon that could wipe out all who oppose them…

Engaging read, as are all books in this series. At times the author gets briefly lost in weaponry geekdom...it's his passion after all...but that's a minor quibble. Compelling story that draws you in. I'll just have to twist in the wind until the next installment.
  • Meh...it's getting a bit tired.

Decent first few books but the original thread of an idea is getting a bit lost in the new books.
  • Great read

For historical fiction, this is a very interesting literary work. The characters are interesting, with much depth. From a raving psychopath in Silva to the courageous Capt. Redding with everything in between. A little romance, a lot of action, and a gradually awaking sense of technology, it makes for a good read. I do wonder how long it will take for the next book in the series to appear.
  • Great book, great series, can't wait for more.

This is a great series, but be sure you start at the begging. The author does a great job creating an ever-more interesting and immersive universe, and it seems that with Firestorm he is just hitting his stride. I hope he can maintain the pace with the next installment because I can hardly wait for it!
