I had mixed feelings about this as I read through it. In places I cringed at the stark violence. Someone else called it "Magnificent Seven in NY" and that is not far off. Like that movie, the deaths of some characters was troubling, but I kept reading drawn in by the story. In the end, I liked the book and will read the sequel.
