Continuing with the second generation of the Harris family, this story traces Vince and Edna's son Benjamin, who is conscripted and finds himself with the Allied Expeditionary Force in the fields of France during World War I.
During the Battle of Cantigny, Ben meets Céleste, the widow of a French soldier and the mother of a young son, attempting to eke a living in the middle of a battle between the United States and German soldiers.
It's a foregone conclusion that boy meets girl; they marry, and live happily ever after. This story, however, is not quite that simple. There are problems to be resolved and you are invited to participate.
