Description

Otto Shenk is the youngest son of a minor baron and a wizard.

Abused by his family and considered less than human by his kingdom, Otto does his best to survive.

But everything changes when Otto stumbles across a tower hidden deep in a dark part of the forest near his home.

A tower that was once the home of an Arcane Lord, the immortal wizards that long ago ruled the world.

Otto’s life will be changed forever.

And so will the world.

At first, I thought it was a great book aside from some noticeable grammar mistakes. But as I’ve read the first two books, I feel that it doesn’t have enough plot so the author makes up for it by writing from different characters’ perspective… some of which aren’t important. If the books just focused on Otto, the MC, then possibly the first three books could be put into one book of the same length.
  • Hero? Anti-hero?

Echoes of dark times? Foreshadowing done well? [or a tone-deaf, un-‘woke’ saga?] A fun read, a non-sterotypical arc from young untrained mage to powerful … to be determined in future novels. I haven’t read the next novel(s) yet, but I bought #2 as soon as I finished this one!
