    I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a thrilling read. Sam (Mac) McKenzie is co-owner of Bluegrass Security. He and his friends go to a bar to celebrate the success of their business, Bluegrass Security. There he meets Stephanie (Stevie) Jorgenson. She is a detective for the Sheriff's department. The two of them are immediately attracted to each other. In the midst of fighting their feelings for each other, Derby contender horses are coming up sick and dying. Who is poisoning these highly expensive animals? It is a question that Stevie works to figure out. I adored the dual POV format that this book is written in. Getting into their thoughts really helped to understand their actions (especially near the beginning.) I haven't read the first book in the series but I will. Levi and Sage seem like a couple that I must read as well. I didn't have to read it first to enjoy this story. I recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18.

    This is a wonderful story with Sam and Stevie. He retired from the military and is part owner of a Security Company in Kentucky, Stevie is a detective and her new case is finding who is poisoning thoroughbred horses and some were to be in the Kentucky Derby. They meet in a bar and sparks fly and before long they are working together to find whose after the horses. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
