Description

Don't miss the hot new romantic comedy follow-up to the smash hit The Charmer...

Tyler Jacobson has a plan for everything—except how to handle his completely annoying, utterly frustrating, and totally sexy upstairs neighbor. He couldn’t care less if Everly Ribinski thinks he’s equally irritating—until he discovers she’s the only one who can help him land a business deal that will finally make him feel like he’s more than just a guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Color him shocked when Everly refuses to help, insisting she should have run him over in the parking garage when she had the chance. Harsh. But possibly deserved. Tyler may have spent the last few months reveling in annoying the fiery gallery owner with a dark past, but he’s got secret leverage she can’t refuse.

If only they could stop trying to one-up each other long enough to realize the pranks are nothing more than foreplay. Of course, he figures it out quicker. He's smart like that. Too bad Everly wants nothing to do with him. Or does she? Wait. What is she up to now?

For a man who’s always scheming, the best-laid plans never felt so good falling apart…

Crazy fun, sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling and surprisingly real not looking to fall in love romantic journey. Complete with a secondary romance that has a delectable sizzle that is all its own and was very engaging to read. Visiting the whole gang again and finding some new and very intriguing charters, loved it! Tyler Jacobson is the wiz kid from the wrong side of the tracks that made millions and is doing his damnedest not to look back. Then in to his life comes Everly Ribinsk this sexy, sassy and hard to ignore gallery owner that owns her working class roots and proudly displays them. The chemistry is of the charts and the dialogue is whitey and real. Loved everything about this enemies to lovers romance.

Smart, entertaining read. I loved the characters of Tyler and Everly. On the outside, Tyler seemed to have it all, but in reality, he was doing whatever it took to run away from his upbringing. That depth kept him relatable and vulnerable in a way that had me hoping he would eventually discover good things in his past that he could embrace going forward. Everly also had baggage, but she knew exactly who she was because of her background and wasn’t willing to change or hide that for anyone. Her passionate personality kept Tyler unbalanced and living in the moment (not looking 6 steps ahead as he’d been doing most of his adult life), having genuine emotion-based reactions. The push-and-pull dynamic of their interactions kept me engaged in their story, invested until the very end.

My favorite thing about enemies to lovers is the passion behind all that hate. Tyler and Everly had a ton of passion and chemistry. From the burning of every meal by Tyler and nearly setting the building on fire to the constant barbs traded back and forth, this book had me laughing constantly. Tyler has been trying to shed his wrong side of the tracks image since he was a scholarship student at a fancy prep school. Everly can't stand people like Tyler, who only care about the image, and has no problem telling him just what she thinks. I loved that despite what seemed like differences, Tyler and Everly were so similar and seemed to bring out the best in each other. I haven't read the first two books in the Harbor City series but the glimpses of the characters from those books in The Schemer make me want to know more about Sawyer and Hudson Carlyle. *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
  • Fun and sexy enemies-to-lovers read

Having read the first two Harbor City books, I couldn’t wait to read Tyler’s story. Yes, he comes off as a jerk in the little he is seen in Carlyle brothers books. But that’s what made him intriguing to me. We only see his personality through the lense of Sawyer and Hudson’s stories. I wanted to see what made Tyler tick. Tyler is a self made man from the wrong side of the rver.. He wasn’t born to the elite upper crust of a Harbor City. He’s a Waterbury scholarship kid, who’s done his best to change his voice, look and social standing. In fact, his best friend Frankie is his only connection to his hometown. Everly , his upstairs neighbor, is also a Harbor City transplant. But she doesn’t try to hide her working class Riverside roots. She’s sassy, loyal and proud of her Nunni that raised her and the streets she grew up on. She has no use for someone like Tyler. And this is what makes them so much fun! They are more alike than either realizes or would be happy with. Their banter is hilarious, the sexy times are definitely sexy and the secondary characters add to the story, rather than distract, in my opinion. With her trademark humor and snappy dialog, Avery Flynn does not disappoint with The Schemer!
  • An Enemies to Lovers Romance

Tyler Jacobson was a scholarship kid and hasn't forgotten that; even though he's a millionaire now. He has trouble convincing himself that he fits in with the Harbor City elite so he does everything he can to prove himself. Like hiring a speech therapist to get rid of his accent, not talking about where he came from and scheming to get the best contracts from the best companies to prove himself. Everly Ribinski is a art gallery owner who also comes from the wrong side of the tracks and embraces her heritage and past that makes her who she is today. She is also Tyler's upstairs neighbor, his tenant and the bain of Tyler's existence. This is a good enemies to lovers romance and lots of fun! The angst that goes on between these two kept me smiling all the way through but, I found myself wishing there was a little more of a spark between them. I have read the other two books in this series which were great but this story kind of fell short for m

Book 3 in the Harbor City Series.. Tyler Jacobson doesn’t know what to do about his upstairs neighbor. She’s annoying, and stubborn to say the least. She makes it known she can’t stand him either. But he needs her help. Everly Ribinski can’t stand Tyler with a passion. He’s always doing something to piss her off. But he’s up to something, and now he wants her help. Like that’s going to happen. The bantering between Tyler and Everly is funny. Some really great laugh out loud moments. I just didn’t see the romance between them. It seemed like they were always at each other’s throats. I just have to say this wasn’t my favorite book in the series. I love the first two.
