Description

Being fated to have a mate doesn't mean life is going to be one long joyride once you find her. Just ask Merrick, a tormented vampire who spends his life protecting others...and the woman determined to save him, whether he wants it or not.

Tempest Keye's life is just beginning. Growing up in a religious cult, Tempest could only dream of the world outside. Once free, Tempest is determined to live her life to the fullest, and to check off each item on her bucket list. First on her agenda – to meet an honest-to-goodness vampire. It's just a shame the one she finds doesn't understand how the whole Dark Ones thing is supposed to work. Luckily for him, she's patient.

Merrick Simon's life is coming to an end. One of the legendary Four Horsemen, Merrick's soul is stained with regrets despite the many mortals and immortals alike he's saved from peril. Facing the most dangerous mission of his life, Merrick is compelled to protect a sexy, maddening woman who insists she's his soul mate. Like he has time for that.

Both need more time…The closer they come to finding the truth, the more dangers lurk in the shadows. Worse, Merrick finds himself falling for Tempest despite the risks that brings.

Together, they fight for the one thing that matters most – their happily ever after.

See for yourself why Booklist proclaimed Katie MacAlister's Dark Ones to be, "Wickedly sexy and wildly humorous…a wonderfully original, practically perfect paranormal treat."

  • Tempest is incredibly annoying!

Dragon Fall is one of my favorite series. This was my first read of the Dark Ones series. I really had no real connection to the characters. I found Tempest so annoying. I did not feel that Merrick was this deep dark vampire. It felt like a was watching a B movie. Comical. Although, I found myself rushing to complete the story. Mostly because of Tempest. She was a nuisance. There was lots of humor, which I enjoyed, but Tempest was too much. Ii was a little disappointing. I do recommend because I love this author and may try another book in this series because this series has received very high ratings.

An interesting and humorous story! You have Tempest and Merrick who meet and the fun begins. The mystery involves bad guys and the story has a twist to it. Merrick’s friends along with Tempest and Ellis and a few more will solve part of a puzzle. Yes, I forgot to mention there are vampires involved but they are part of the story. Read and enjoy!
