The decline in Salvatore from his original works is undeniable. This entire series is predicated on a “reset” and it’s obvious to me there will never be a moment going forward where there’s a true concern from the reader for the outcome of any of his protagonist character(s) ever again. He can’t even let villains be villains, be it men or the gods themselves.

After nearly thirty years of Drizzt, spanning more than 33 novels, one might think that this story might have gotten stale. But, in fact, i believe it has only gotten better. These most recent books, starting with "Gauntlgrym", detail the years in our hero's life that are a sort of second life (as Innovindil suggest he live his life in multiple lifetimes). The time of the companions of the hall is long since over, with new characters, as well as the old, brought together, to form a group of friends and heroes unlike any that Faerun has seen since times long forgotten. A new enemy threatens the dark elf, a threat that comes from within himself, as well as from external forces. Can Drizzt find a way to overcome and regain his true self again? Who will come to the aide of this goodly drow? A new hero rises from an old familiar source. Find out who the hero is in this, the latest chapter of The Legend of Drizzt. The ending made me tear up in happiness. Definitely do not miss this book.
