Awakenings describes the unfolding poetic journey as the writer explores his connection with God/The Universe as a result of exposure to various meditative practices. In reality, it explores the authors journey as he learns to connect with self and listen to his inner voice. John endeavors to capture those thoughts that, oftentimes, pass through all of our minds and seek answers or, perhaps, recognition and acceptance.
