Can't wait for a new Mercy book. They never disappoint and they always end too soon and the wait for the next one seems too far away. Same thing just happened with this latest. Loved it. Heading back to page one. You never know with magical books I may have missed something important. Thanks Ms. Briggs for another wonderful tale about our favorite coyote and her wolf.

I expected more. After the last book and hinted possibility that mercy might've been pregnant I had been looking forward to this. Now that I've read it, it was extremely disappointing and almost a copy of a charmed episode I watched, including the plot line of needing to save a child that held power over fire.

Mercy Thompson never disappoints!!! Love this series! I always impatiently wait for the next one! Love the addition of Aiden to Mercy's dysfunctional family! Hope he stays!

The other books in the series have set the stage nicely for this book. There is a part in the beginning that had me laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes. Its great to see the characters together in a more relaxed setting, strengthening bonds instead of only being together to fight. She is amassing friends and allies that are willing to follow her. I can't wait to see how they will all come together for the epic battle that is coming. Mercy has taken a beating in most of the books in this series and it's nice to have her only bruised this time. In a nice twist, she stayed human instead of running or fighting as a coyote. Her character is evolving as she takes on the role of a translator/ liaison and I think it makes her seem more mature. My complaint is not about what is in the book, but what I want it to have in it. I would love for her to be pregnant! There is a nod towards that idea when she goes to underhill, and I hope she is wrong in thinking that she's not. I can imagine her frustration as everyone tries to 'wrap her in wool' to cushion her from the world. All of these big bad monsters going goo goo over a baby would be very entertaining (though a pregnancy would be a whole book by itself).
  • Another Homerun

Her stories get better with every book, which is such a rarity in long series.

I've been a huge fan of Patricia Briggs' work since 2008 and have been reading her books daily ever since. She's never let me down! This book is no exception! Always a 5 star review no matter which book you pick up and a must have in every library, digital or otherwise!

I just absolutely adored this book. The fire god one was great, and this one was really great, too. The fight with the troll was just really cool, and the tension between the fae, the wolves, and the humans was just fantastic. I LOVED the multi-level marketing bit. It was really funny and tied everything together just wonderfully.
