Description

“An inventive plot and incisive character studies elevate MWA Grand Master Grafton’s twenty-fourth Kinsey Millhone novel...This superior outing will remind readers why this much-loved series will be missed as the end of the alphabet approaches.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

X:  The number ten. An unknown quantity. A mistake. A cross. A kiss...

Perhaps Sue Grafton’s darkest and most chilling novel, X features a remorseless serial killer who leaves no trace of his crimes. Once again breaking the rules and establishing new paths, Grafton wastes little time identifying this deadly sociopath. The test is whether private investigator Kinsey Millhone can prove her case against him—before she becomes his next victim.

I've read them all. From A to X and am looking forward to Y and inevitably Z. What then? Will Ms Sue start with numbers such as 001 and 002. Can't wait for 007. Grafton plots out a story extremely well. She fleshes out the characters till you can picture them in your mind. Better than movies. All plots are tied up at the end. All very satisfying. Besides, Kinsey and I have so much in common I think we are twins separated at birth. I love you, Sue Grafton. Keep writing.

I've read every one of Sue Grafton's books. They are always entertaining; I can't wait for the two remaining books..."Y" and "Z"!

Kinsey is your neighbor next door that has found her professional niche, investigating. Over the years she has sought to improve her skills as well as utilize them to bring issues brought to her attention to a successful closure. In this book, there are three issues. One where she is hired to perform a simple task for her skill set that turns into something else. Second where a new neighbor is a cause for concern. And lastly, doing a favor for a friend on behalf of the friend's deceased husband uncovers something entirely different. Like life, not everything has a desirable outcome.

It took me about a month and a half to make it through this book, because it never SUCKED ME IN until the last three chapters. Perhaps there are people who enjoy mountains of unnecessary details, but I learned, throughout the reading of this novel, that I am not one of those people. It was a decent storyline, and I enjoyed the characters. But, I am not compelled to read any other novels by this author. It's just not my cup of tea, but I am guessing others might love this.

I drool when I know a Sue Grafton book will becoming out. I feel as if Kinsey is an acquaintance of mine and her story's are her and I acting away. I dread the end of the series. Thank you for the older full reads over the years. Sue always gives such humanity to the characters. Can't wait for the next one. Of course I will read this one over again because I so joyed it.

This is one of Sue Grafton's best so far. Full of twists.
