One of my favorite reads in many years. It helps to have been a major fan of many of the musicians Mike mentions and to still love many of the songs he is a part of, but the storytelling style of Heartbreaker is what makes this book so great. It’s like Mike is sitting with one of his guitars talking to you. If you even kind of think this book might be worth reading, get it.

One of the best rock books I’ve ever read. I didn’t want it to end

I knew some of Mike’s story before reading his book, but this went to the next level. It made me laugh out loud and it brought tears to my eyes. It’s really a great story about a guitar player and his journey. It’s about Mike’s life and the Heartbreaker’s history. It was very well done and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone with an interest in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Thanks for telling your story Mike.

Brilliant book about a brilliant musician’s journey. Lived every minute of it.

No words can express just how amazing this book was. As a fan, I realized through this book what it took to get there. I will now listen to all the songs I love with a new mindset. Thank you Mike Campbell for sharing your story with us. PS it did make me cry.

One of the best rock a roll biographies, or autobiographies that I’ve read, and I’ve read a lot. If you love the rock music and the history, this is must read.

I bought this for my seventy-fourth birthday and finished two days later. I was at the first Farm Aid concert that was mentioned. Music artists touch me and he knows so many I have in my IPod. A very moving experience, I loved it!

What a fabulous read. I am so grateful for this ride and highly recommend it. I laughed and oh how I cried. This music is the soundtrack to my life. I was at the Hollywood bowl for the second to last show. So glad I was. I’m 56 and grew up in Southern California. Mike we met on a plane to Kauai. I was in coach and you and Marcie were in 1st class. I asked if you were playing anywhere. You said no. Just on vacation. Thanks again Mike! So well said…so sweet.
