This unputdownable psychological thriller by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell follows a woman who finds herself the subject of her own popular true crime podcast.

Celebrating her forty-fifth birthday at her local pub, popular podcaster Alix Summer crosses paths with an unassuming woman called Josie Fair. Josie, it turns out, is also celebrating her forty-fifth birthday. They are, in fact, birthday twins.

A few days later, Alix and Josie bump into each other again, this time outside Alix’s children’s school. Josie has been listening to Alix’s podcasts and thinks she might be an interesting subject for her series. She is, she tells Alix, on the cusp of great changes in her life.

Josie’s life appears to be strange and complicated, and although Alix finds her unsettling, she can’t quite resist the temptation to keep making the podcast. Slowly she starts to realize that Josie has been hiding some very dark secrets, and before she knows it, Josie has inveigled her way into Alix’s life—and into her home.

But, as quickly as she arrived, Josie disappears. Only then does Alix discover that Josie has left a terrible and terrifying legacy in her wake, and that Alix has become the subject of her own true crime podcast, with her life and her family’s lives under mortal threat.

Who is Josie Fair? And what has she done?

I flew through this book in 3 days. I couldn’t put it down. There were twists and surprises on every page. One of the best books I’ve read this year.

Lisa Jewell has a knack for writing complex, disturbing stories. I thought the characters’ personalities were very thought out and distinct, the plot was incredibly intriguing and I couldn’t put this book down. There were a couple instances where I thought things might’ve gone unanswered but overall a great read.

Enjoyed this book. Great story told and written in a way you really understand how sick the main character is.

I felt like I was reading Seinfeld and you can’t stand any of the characters. I thought they were all naive and shallow. Considering how many books Jewel has written, please tell me she has written better stories.

  • Boring and Tried

A wannabe Gone Girl, but without the cleverness or depth that Gillian Flynn infused throughout that novel. None Of This Is True has a pretty lame plot, a rather obvious and not especially convincing twist put in at about the two-third mark, and flat, boring characters. Sorry Lisa Jewell, but this novel did not work for me. Not so bad as to be unreadable, but definitely a yawn of a “thriller.” GRADE: D.

I was quite bored. It wasn’t until part 3 I wanted to know what was next. The clingy was to drawn out for me. Not sure if I like the ending. It still leaves questions for me.
