Description

"I didn't care about what would happen. He might win the match, but he could never beat me. I was living my dream, traveling the world unhindered, completely free. Nothing could put me down. The play button was pressed again. My opponent took my back and I tapped to a bow and arrow choke. I laughed and shook his hand, as I stood back up. I was out of the competition. Everything was perfect. Life couldn’t be better."

After a training partner commits suicide, Christian Graugart feels obliged to do something with his life. Starting his own gym, dedicating almost all his time to the art of BJJ, alters everything, including the way he sees himself.

The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Globetrotter is not only a story about traveling and training in martial arts. It's about all the things that can happen to you if you choose to truly stay alive until you actually die.

This was an amazing story and an amazing adventure that captured my attention from the very 1st page to end. This is the largest book I have ever read and yet it went by so fast, it made me feel as if I was with him every step of his journey. You don't need to be a bjj practitioner to enjoy this book, the book itself was not about learning moves or training but the will power to overcome ones goals that were set forth from the beginning and watching them be completed one task at a time.

This a great book by a guy who truly captured the essence of Jiu Jitsu. The book gave me insight into what I liked most about the sport, and provided a picture into a larger world. I read it every night before going to bed and it took my mind to far off places with great characters. Now I have to find a new book to read!

I bought this book after stumbling across Christian's blog, and it was an excellent decision. I enjoyed reading the story of the trip, but also enjoyed pondering some of the life lessons that were shared. My favorite was "Postcards remind us not to hurry. To make other people happy. Not in the very moment, but sometime in the future." This was a great read. The book can be enjoyed by everybody, from white belts to black belts to the person who has never set foot on the mats!

As BJJ practitioner and avid traveler I found this book highly entertaining and motivating. Takes a lot of guts to finally walk into your local BJJ let alone gyms all over the world not knowing what to expect. This book will not only appeal to BJJ enthusiasts, but adventure seekers alike. I couldn't put it down!
