Ed Norris was the NYPD’s boy wonder cop. He spearheaded a cold case squad that solved 27 murders in its first six weeks, catapulting him to NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations at the age of 36. In 1990, during a murder investigation, he discovered the plans for what turned out to be the 1993 Trade Center bombing and the September 11, 2001 attacks. His warning was ignored. Then, after the 9-11 attacks, he testified before Congress about how “we dropped the ball” about how we had the information that may have prevented the 1993 and 2001 Trade Center attacks. Soon after, his 24-year career in law enforcement was in tatters.
