Description

#1 BESTSELLER • Ben Mears has returned to Jerusalem’s Lot in hopes that exploring the history of the Marsten House, an old mansion long the subject of rumor and speculation, will help him cast out his personal devils and provide inspiration for his new book.

But when two young boys venture into the woods, and only one returns alive, Mears begins to realize that something sinister is at work.

In fact, his hometown is under siege from forces of darkness far beyond his imagination. And only he, with a small group of allies, can hope to contain the evil that is growing within the borders of this small New England town.

With this, his second novel, Stephen King established himself as an indisputable master of American horror, able to transform the old conceits of the genre into something fresh and all the more frightening for taking place in a familiar, idyllic locale.

Amazing book with such visible detail in the mind to put the story into perspective. Made chills go down my spine and worry creep in my mind.

The book was riveting. I couldn’t put it down. Stayed up into the wee hours of the morning. Had to turn my light on in my bedroom twice because I thought something or someone was standing over my bed! Ha! Of course there wasn’t anyone there. Great read! Love Stephen King’s way of storytelling.

I haven’t read a book since I was in high school. I decided to get a library card and get back to reading and let me tell you I’m so happy I chose this book!! How it all comes together is amazing wished there was a second part to it because I would definitely read it as well!

I read ‘Salem’s Lot while staying at a labyrinthian colonial house in New Hampshire for a wedding. I was crucified to King’s every word as I shivered through the prose. And, I kept asking myself, what was that large sideboard doing in the cellar of this ancient house in New Hampshire?

Eh… so many characters, and so much backstory. I just didn’t enjoy it as much as King’s other books.

My Journey to the Dark Tower I recently decided to start reading the Dark Tower series but wanted the full experience so I got some recommendations and compiled a list of books relevant (hopefully!) to the extended lore. This book 1 on that list . Takes a bit to get going but a good read. It’s a good ramp up once it gets there. The writing is beautifully done. Thought I was going to have a stress induced heart attack towards the end XD As my first read, I have no idea how this plugs into the DT series but I’m excited to find out!
