She owns a computer based company and is trying to take it public. On the day that she has an interview with a leading magazine she also has a meeting with several people from the community to see how her company can help. She gets asked by a high school science teacher about setting up a school trip for his students and things spiral from there. None of her friends realize that she is such an introvert and that she is scared to give up control. Due to his past, he takes her actions the wrong way. They start out as enemies but by the end of the book they may just be the answer to each other’s problems. I loved the teacher’s students; they seemed awesome. I didn’t like her family but her friends were amazing.

I always appreciate realistic characters, who are complex and have nuance. So I found a female CEO that stresses over unforeseen problems with the expansion of a company that she created from the ground up because she’s dealing with situations beyond her area of expertise, while trying to maintain the original purpose, to be authentic. And that she still feels self-conscious at times and frustrated by that self-doubt makes the character believable. I liked that the characters can admit to shortcomings, while learning to change their minds, even reluctantly. This is a character-driven story that allows you to see evolving viewpoints, making it a compelling read.

I so desperately wanted to know what coffee was used, anyone else? Overall I really liked this book. I loved the range of characters and funny snippets throughout the story.

I wanted to love this book. But it was just a little all over the place. Everything was glanced over quickly. The family issues and past relationship were mentioned and somewhat discussed but it could’ve gone deeper. Plus they seemed to hate each other and not really interact much the whole first half of the book. I liked the idea of the female ceo and male teacher but it overall just missed the mark.

Way to heavy handed with the far left virtue signaling. It really took away from the story.
