Description

"I am of the House of Lara, daughter of Elvira of Nailani, sister of witches, and I have come to reclaim my crown."

Isolde, newly coronated queen, has finally found a king worthy of her in the vampire Adrian. But their love for each other has cost Isolde her father and her homeland. With two opposing goddesses playing mortals and vampires against one another, Isolde is uncertain who her allies are in the vampire stronghold of Revekka.

Now, as politics in the Red Palace grow more underhanded, inexplicable monster attacks plague the villages, and a deadly crimson mist threatens all of Cordova, Isolde must trust in the bond she’s formed with Adrian, even as she learns troubling information about his complicated past.

The next book in the scorching, bingeable vampire fantasy series by USA Today and international bestselling author Scarlett St. Clair.

Book was good, the actual story is pretty good and I want to know what happens with ana lol and does Adrian ever get relieved from his curse. The spicy scenes I feel are okay I don’t really focus on that too much but it did become a bit overbearing at some point.

I LOVED the first book! Not that I dislike the second installment but it’s just not the same. Isolde’s blindness, lack of logic and immaturity in some situations really bothers me especially since she’s such a strong independent woman. I feel like the author is trying to make her SO strong and independent that now shes written Isolde as more of an irrational drama queen who argues just to argue because her rage overcomes her. The ENDLESS overdramatic and pointless arguments between Adrian and Isolde became old a coiled chapters ago. Other than that, the story + world building is absolutely amazing. The plot is well paced, keeps me on my toes and is very intriguing. I love the characters and how complex the storyline is.

I have be devouring supernatural romance books for close to 6 months. Of the 30+ books I have read, these 2 books ranks at the top. I adore the characters and their gradual development and growth. I also am happy that there is little filler content as many authors use, like when other authors describe every room and costume ad nauseam at every opportunity. Some authors fluff for page count, not St. Clair. She is my new favorite author.

Following KBB I felt like this book was trying to be something that it wasn’t. I DNF and ultimately just skipped to the last chapter and even then I was disappointed.

I loved the first book and the developing story but this book seems to throw so many different elements all at once. I don’t think it’s bad but I wish a lot of the situations that came up were paced out far more.
