Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.

Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of the night her family was forever altered.

Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents could devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue loving her.

This is the first book I have read from this author but I was completely captivated by this book. I have never clung to a book and read it so fast ever. I’m not completely familiar with dissection of a book but it was cleverly written and grabs a hold of you. I don’t typically read this genre of books but this was worth my wild. My only regret with this book is I wish it was longer and how the relationship proceeded. Hands down the best book I have read in a while!!

This book was very well written, and definitely had me wondering what happens next. However, some parts of the book were very disturbing and made me sick reading it as a mother. But it gave character to who we were reading about.
  • Good read but slightly predictable ending

Downloaded this book and forgot about it for awhile. Finally while I was on vacation, I picked it back up and had a hard time putting it down. I just felt it was super predictable.

Overall enjoyable. Felt predictable at times, but not overwhelmingly so. I went into this book blind and thoroughly enjoyed uncovering more of the plot, though I would recommend reading the back cover before doing that again. The chemistry between characters was so animated and well depicted. I hated the ending, I expected more twists and turns. It ended rather bold and lacked much closure for the realism reader
