This is not great literature by any means - but it isn’t meant to be. That said, it’s surprisingly moving and an interesting meditation on grieving. Oh, and it’s funny. If you’re looking for a book to take your mind off your troubles for a few days this is that book.

Couldn’t wait to get back to this book every night! Guncle (gay uncle) and his young niece and nephew struggle through some serious life challenges. Told from Uncle Patrick’s point of view, the story is filled with humor, sadness and even quirkiness but the situations and characters were real and show them struggling with modern day problems.

This book started out a little slow.. the acerbic nature of the protagonist was a but much. But as the book went on, he became more and more likeable. I ended up even shedding tears over this book. Worth the read
